The testes produce sperm and the hormones that regulate male sexual function. Testicular hormones are responsible for the induction of male phenotype during embryogenesis and for maturation at puberty. As a consequence, abnormalities of testicular function cause different clinical effects during different periods of life ΓÇô namely disorders of foetal development, puberty, adult life, and old age - depending on the phase of sexual life in which they first become manifest.
